Lent: Fasting & Feasting

Our goal is union with God. When we fast, we become more aware of the hunger and the desires within us. We also become more aware of our attachments and fears. We are invited to remember that, “one does not live by bread alone.” We are invited to let go and settle a little deeper into God’s providence.

There is no “right” way to feel or anything you “should” learn during your fast.

Let your fast be your teacher.

In other words, this is an invitation to trust that as we are faithful with the process, the Holy Spirit will teach us what we need to learn.

focus with
prayer

Consider devoting the time you would normally spend eating to pray. Be attentive to what God may speak to you as you pray.

Focus with
Worship

We have created a Fasting & Feasting playlist on Spotify. We invite to you listen “together” with us during this season.

focus with
beauty

Filling your senses with the beauty of nature, feasting on good music and art, or simply reading a good book can all be very life-giving experiences during a fast.

focus with
friends

You can share with a friend your intentions, celebrations, concerns, and failures; pray for one another; simply enjoy the friendship that comes from sharing a common goal and struggle.
